Psychological Assessment
A good way to think about this assessment is “personality testing.” It typically is used for diagnostic purposes when a client is experiencing emotional or psychological distress. A psychological evaluation also can include an IQ (intelligence) test and cognitive, social and Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorders.
Because this is a portion of the larger neuropsychological evaluation, it usually takes less time — possibly in the 1-4 hour time frame, depending on the nature of the referral. The format of scheduling is the same as the more complete battery (initial interview, test battery and follow-up appointment) — it’s just a shorter test battery.
